Mohenjo Daro

Mohenjo Daro is an upcoming epic adventure-romantic film directed by the Ashutosh Gowariker and produced by Ashutosh Gowariker Productions and Disney India. The movie features Hrithik Roshan and Pooja Hegde in the main roles and marks Gowariker’s second collaboration with Roshan and Disney India. The movie is set in the ancient city of Mohenjo-daro in the age of the Indus Valley civilisation that dates back to 2600 BCE. The movie record is composed by A. R. Rahman.

Making of Mohenjo Daro Film

Ashutosh Gowariker announced the movie officially in February 2014 with A. R. Rahman composing the movie record. In August 2014, Hrithik Roshan was confirmed to act the male lead and was paid rs.50 crore (US$7.9 million) for the starring role. Actress Pooja Hedge was signed for the female lead role. On taking up the project, in an interview, Gowariker stated that there was inadequate and superficial information available about the people in that cultureaccurately about their way of living, food and feelings. That have insufficient of information about the period stressful him on a  latent level and he decided that whenever he would get a script to tell it will be stated, in the 2600 BCE-Mohenjo Daro. On the movie’s plot, he was quoted saying, “While the plot will follow the discovery of Mohenjo Daro and the culture and the vibe of the ancient culture, it will largely centre on a love story.” It took Gowariker three years to piece together the entire civilization through various cities and weave a love story into it. During his observation, he met as many as seven archaeologian who had been closely involved in documenting the discovery of the Indus Valley human development. He had also visited the ancient site of Dholavira. Further, the movie being set in a certain period, the entire site had to be recreated in a film studio. He was involved in working out the organization during June 2014. The movie stunts would be choreographed by Glenn Boswell and the  garments designed by April Ferry and Neeta Lulla. U.K. based trainer Joshua Kyle Baker was roped in to give three months training to Hrithik Roshan’s character in the movie. He described to train Roshan so as to carry ‘lithe’ and ‘agile’ looks rather than more masculine. Relating the natural atmosphere required for Mohenjo Daro, Gowariker was impressed with the calamitous VFX seen in the movie The Day After Tomorrow and 10,000 BC that were designed by Karen Goulekas. In September 2014, as a graphic effects supervisor, Goulekas was brought on board for the movie.
